IC_UCSDUCSD Mobile Marketing

The International Center at the University of California at San Diego needed a better way to promote its programs to students and faculty, as well as close the gap between students who expressed interest in studying abroad and those who actually went.  j. simms devised a multi-level SMS marketing campaign to speak to several target audiences on and off campus.  The campaigns encouraged people to join text-mailing lists to get info and alerts from the International Center sent to their mobile phones.  Through this two-way system, the university could communicate directly with students and evaluate how to better serve them, thus closing the retention gap.  A comprehensive marketing campaign, created by j. simms, supported the mobile efforts.  While still too early in its lifecycle to gauge the campaign success, the mobile marketing has been well received and both the university and students are excited to engage in the process.

Excuses Begone Hay House
Book publisher Hay House wanted to try a-go at incorporating mobile marketing into its existing promotions portfolio.  By way of j. simms agency, it developed a one-time mobile campaign where users could text in the word “DYER” to receive a special discount code for 10 percent off an online purchase of “Excuses Begone!”

by New York Times best-selling author and speaker Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.  This offer was advertised in a TV commercial that aired on The Bonnie Hunt Show in two Florida counties on the same day that Dr. Dyer was a show guest.  This one-time effort resulted in 30 people texting in for the discount code and 25 book sales that could be directly correlated to the TV commercial.
